Robert Taylor

Robert M. Taylor retired from his position as President & CEO of Charter Bank in Wyandotte, Michigan, in May 2002 in conjunction with the acquisition of Charter Bank by Charter One Bank of Cleveland, Ohio. His background with Charter Bank includes more than thirty years of banking and executive management, beginning in 1972 when he joined the bank as the third generation of bank management in his family. He advanced through many positions throughout his career, growing the bank to a full service community bank serving the downriver area of Southeast Michigan with eight locations. He continues to serve in a consultant capacity. Taylor currently is President of RMT Enterprises, LLC, a consulting firm, headquartered in Florida with an office located in Michigan. Taylor is also a partner in Parke East Properties, LLC, a Michigan based company specializing in residential real estate development.
Taylor came to the downriver area of Michigan from Kenton, Ohio, after graduating in 1972 from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. The college honored him in 1994 with the Alumni Achievement Award in recognition of his distinguished financial career and numerous community service activities. He has also attended American Bankers’ Association and Bank Marketing Association schools to study commercial lending, bank investments, personnel, bank marketing and real estate law.
Robert Taylor served the Southeastern region of Michigan for more than thirty years, with a deep commitment toward improvement in the quality of life downriver, which is one of the major reasons he became affiliated with The Guidance Center in 1996, serving as General Chairman of the Capital Campaign for the purpose of constructing their new headquarters. Bob & Pam Taylor were recognized for fundraising efforts by The Guidance Center in 1998 and continue to support the Clinic. Taylor served as a member of the Board of The Guidance Center through 2003. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Central Distributors of Beer, Inc., of Romulus, MI. Prior to retiring, he was an active member of the Southern Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, American Bankers’ Association and the Michigan Bankers Association. Taylor is also one of the founders of the Downriver Business Exposition, an event developed by Taylor and another local banker that originated in 1985 in an effort to showcase the many diverse products and services of the downriver area. He is a past president of the Wyandotte Rotary Club and held memberships in several southeastern Michigan charitable and community organizations. He is a member of the Hillsdale College Presidents’ Club.
Taylor has been a long time member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), an organization available to young presidents throughout the world with a commitment to helping individuals become better presidents through education and idea exchange. He is currently a member of World Presidents’ Organization (WPO), the official alumni organization of YPO and serves actively in Detroit Presidents’ Organization (DPO), one of more than ninety chapters of the organization worldwide. He also serves as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of Healthnetwork Foundation, an Ohio based company providing information and access to the best medical institutions in the world. Taylor is also as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Keystone Insurance Company, Sarasota, Florida.
Robert Taylor and his wife, Pamela, an interior designer, have two adult children. The Taylors reside in Sarasota, Florida. Taylor is an active member of several golf clubs, including Gator Creek Golf Club in Sarasota, FL, where he also is a member of the Board of Directors. He has been an active and strong participating member at each club and has served on several committees throughout the years in support of growth and development of the clubs, their programs and their memberships.
