And Speaking of Eating |
Researchers, scientists and physicians are pretty much all in agreement that there is an inextricable link between what you eat and your state of health. What no one can seem to agree on, however, is what foods are healthy and which are not.
A new book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by longtime Cleveland Clinic (and GOLD partner hospital) physician, Caldwell B. Esselstyn Jr. states that heart dis
ease - the leading cause of death in the U.S. for both men and women - can be reversed and even cured through changes in diet and nutrition. His compelling and convincing book will give you pause to think before you take your next bite of nearly anything.
In a recent New York Times article, Michael Pollan, author of The Omnivore's Dilemma shares nine rules for eating in his story titled "Unhappy Meal." Pollan's approach can be succinctly summarized: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." You can bypass his lengthy essay and get right to the rules by clicking here.
Aging Issues
When you see your parents or a loved one having medical issues, you want to take charge. As a loved one ages, however, their health issues often become more complex and complicated. When is a memory problem something more? How many medications are they taking and how do these medications interact with one another?
As Healthnetwork member, Howard Hirsch, states:
"Dr. Robert Palmer's, Head Section Geriatric Medicine, Cleveland Clinic review of my father-in-law’s medical history was so thorough and he was able to make a number of significant recommendations. We felt even more reassured that we had taken the right steps for my father-in-law’s care." (read more)
